Sometimes your kids never grow up

Remember taking your kids shopping? How could I forget? How could you? Its impossible. The very best time is when they don't know your shopping.....for them. When they are so young, they are completely in the dark. Those are fun times, you can get all your shopping done in front of them.  The whining, begging age can get very old fast.  The age where they save all thier pennies to buy a present for somebody.  Than thier is the time when its really alot of fun going shopping and trying on clothes on with them.  Finally there is the age when you can't get them to stop playing with the item. You hope they don't break it before you drag them out of the store.  Me and Heidi were passing time while the men were looking at computers.  Hope you enjoy the videos:

Happy Opposite Day

Date When Held : Event is always January 25
Opposite Day is a topsy, turvy day when everything you say, do, see, and hear are the opposite. If you say go left, you mean go right. If you say look up, it means look down. If you see your left foot...is it really your right?
Yesiree, Bob. Opposite Day can be a whole lot of fun. It can also be very, very confusing. This special day is celebrated primarily among school children. Sponge Bob Square Pants even got into the act, with an episode containing the whimsical nature of this day.
Thought for the Day: Opposites attract.

Origin of Opposite Day:
We have yet to discover who created this day, or the original date of creation. In true "Opposite Day" spirit, you have to look for someone who says "I didn't create this day", and go from there.
References to Opposite Day date back to around 2000. However, we found some casual reference to President Calvin Coolidge in the 1920's. Is it possible that a president said one thing and meant another?
Some recent writings suggest the first Tuesday of the year. However, older research, points to the 25th. We suspect there may be more than one celebration of Opposite Day.

Opposite day was mentioned in the book "Alice in Wonderland". This day may originate from the storybook, written inthe 1800's..

MY HUSBAND FOUND THIS,TOO MUCH TIME ON HIS HANDS!  ENJOY YOURSELF.
Twas the month after Christmas, and
all through the house, nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.
The cookies I’d nibbled, the fudge I did taste, all the holiday parties had gone to my waist.
When I got on the scales there arose such a number! When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber) ,
I remembered the marvelous meals I’d prepared, the gravies and sauces and beef nicely rare.
The pies and the cakes, the bread and the cheese, and the way I never said, "No thank you please."
As I dressed myself in my husband’s old shirt, and prepared once again to do battle with dirt---
I said to myself, as I only can "You can’t spend the winter disguised as a man!"
So away with the last of the sour cream dip, get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip.
Every last bit of food that I like must be banished, ‘till all the additional ounces have vanished.
I won’t have a cookie, not even a lick, I’ll want only to chew on a long celery stick.
I won’t have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie, I’ll munch on a carrot and quietly cry.
I’m hungry, I’m lonesome, and life is a bore --- But isn’t that what January is for?
Unable to giggle, no longer a riot ... Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!

Autumn

Psa 121:1 A Song of degrees. I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
Seems like when the leaves change color its like wow, the trees are beautiful
You see God’s handiwork in the colors, smells and sights of autumn
Psa 121:2 My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. Psa 121:3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Psa 121:4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. Psa 121:5 The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. Psa 121:6The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. Psa 121:7 The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. Psa 121:8 The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore. David knew God was his help
Autumn comes after the summer heat has dried things up and the grass is not green no more but when God makes the change to Autumn we know it and recognize the beauty.
When someone comes to Jesus there is a change everyone sees it and knows it2Co 5:17
Like God changes the seasons, He Is able to change the person and make them someone is a example of God’s love and beauty
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Like God changes the seasons, He Is able to change the person and make them someone is a example of God’s love and beauty

Martin Luther King jr day

WHAT IS THE MLK DAY OF SERVICE?

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is: 'What are you doing for others?'"
Each year, Americans across the country answer that question by coming together on the King Holiday to serve their neighbors and communities.

New Year

So what a crazy start of the year! Because of the bad weather, so far this year, there has not been a a Sunday morning service or Sunday School.  One would think we still live in Wisconsin.  Business and schools have been shut down due to horrible ice and snow.  Now we are looking at major flood warnings.  Today, we arrived at church for Sunday school. We got there early to clean up any ice and snow.  May I also say, my husband could not find any salt in our town to put on ice.  Everyone had bought it.  He finally tried using table salt.

Well as fast as my husband was cleaning up ice, it was freezing again.  We called off Sunday school. Than as more stories came in of near accidents and close calls, we closed down church.  All was not lost, there were a few of us there, We sang some Sunday school songs and than Janie taught us the Sunday school lesson as we drank hot coffee, cider and hot cocoa.  All in all,
a very good morning in spite of the weather.

It's Pretty Crazy in Here!: Not Your Normal Sunday...

It's Pretty Crazy in Here!: Not Your Normal Sunday...: Let's just face it, it's not only your normal Sunday around here....but it makes sense...2017 has started out really bizarre!

Stepping out

We have been in the middle of severe snow storm  around here. I have been having John take me to work as I don't like driving in the wet snow here. Nothing like what I have been use to for the last 10 years. That snow never fazed me. Much drier snow.

It is 10 pm last night, looking longingly toward bed time.  Five am comes early. John comes in from outside, We have thick snow all thru our front yard. Its cold, school is being cancelled for second day in a row.

My feline Joy, who thinks there is nothing in this life, she cannot check out. John comes walking in front door, Joy goes slipping out the door before I can grab her. I am standing out on a wet snowy porch, trying to keep an eye on where she is headed. John is running for a flashlight.  This not so smart cat has hardly spent any time outside, let alone sever weather at night.  I am not sure if she has enough brain in her head to realize if she doesn't come in, she will most likely freeze to death.

I find her favorite snack called temptation and lure her back to front step. As she went to eat it, she stepped into the hoop,my hand.  It all ended well. I may have lost one of her lives!

Later, I thought of our enemy. Satan tries to lure us from the safety of our heavenly Father. He does this by things around us. Things that at first appearance seem interesting

, but will cause us eternal death.  He lures us by temptations that  may cause us to question right and wrong. That may cause us not to hear the small still voice of Jesus.

We need not fall for his traps.  We can go to God's word and find help immediately. We read in James  4:7, Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Romans 8:35-39 tells us that there is nothing that can separate us from God. When we flee to our heavenly Father, there is peace and safety.

First Major snow day of winter

I really do believe the Lord knows what we need, or maybe just what will put a smile on our face. We lived in Wisconsin for 10 years.  Now mind, back there, we get a lot of snow. It comes down and comes down good. We use to say we had two seasons. snow shoveling and lawn mowing season. The snow was usually drier compared to the wet snow we now, have if we get it. I didn't mind driving in it because of that. The roads were snow plowed quickly.  In fact, I would like to say I love cold weather and it likes me.

Well today, we had major snow.  I sent a picture to my grand kids, across town. showing them that actually we were getting more than them. they spent the last day of Christmas break in the snow at our house.  Perfect day! Playing in snow, resting, watching movies, reading books, doing a puzzle and playing games. Kenzie made a new recipe called banana boats with her special twist to it. Very good.

I had applesauce cooking in crock pot and turkey soup cooking in other crock pot.

God is so good. I see  and hear His beauty and love in the snow, smells of food cooking and grand children's laughter.

I hear it in the voices of friends who call to wish us happy greetings.

I feel it when I read God's word and remember all he has done for me.

Guest Blogger-S.Madison

Today was the day....The day I wore the wrong shoes! It was also the
day we were going to the pumpkin pach Mom said it would
probably rain once we got there, but if you
know my mother, and you know me I'm stubborn.
I didn't want to wear my snow boots, to be frank I didn't really have
any. When we got there my mistake can alive as I realized that
the muddy earth was a huge sponge. I met a friend there
that also realized my mistake, the shoes I was wearing had a bunch of holes!
The holes were there on purpose but that didn't change the fact that I had
made a huge mistake....

We took some pictures, and had some popcorn (Best in the world!)

then we got started. We were going into the corn maze.

Look how muddy it was! I was in for it....

Whew! It all worked out, I got used to the cold water
and surprisingly it felt good after awhile.
We had loads of fun pretending we knew wear to go.
(We got lost many, many times.)
But that was only the half of it!

God makes everything work out for good!

Now that we were out of the corn maze, it was time to
pick a pumpkin and get on the hay ride!

                                                              (My Pumpkin)

That was the hay ride, it was so much fun!
Then we got out of the hay ride,
and got on the cow ride!

Me and my friend sat together, super exited for the ride.
Here is what it was like:

 Awesome!
My cows name was Oreo and my friends cow was Betsy.

It was such a fun ride! But sadly that was where the fun ended.😢
When we got to the car Mom declared it was
a tomato soup day, I guess the fun wasn't over yet!

I hope you in joyed my guest blog post!

Thank You for not giving up on me

Thank you for all those prayers for me. A 10 year old coming to Sunday School, you faithfully drove the van and picked me up. A teenager, that was hot tempered, angry at times about things that were going on. Thank you, for supporting me in prayer in my Christian walk. Taking me to youth choir every Sunday. Thank you for not giving up on me.  Thank you for being my friend, when I was so sick... I didn't like myself. Thank you for your love and help and support.  Thank you for being my friend, mamma and grandmother when I needed one.  Thank you for not giving up on me and I am not giving up on you!

Found on YouTube
An achingly beautiful song by The Dunaways, called "Never Gonna Give Up On You". I contacted the Dunaways to get the story behind the song, and if I understood correctly it's a true story about two friends. One friend comforted the other during a struggling time in life, and the comfortee, the singer in the song, was eventually led to Christ. But the comforter has not yet fully accepted Christ. But the singer has not given up, and never will give up. Lovely song. From their album "Church In The Kitchen". The song was written by Buddy & Julie Miller.

Relaxing and Thinking on Sundays Sermon

Our Message this morning. on the first Sunday of the year.... thought provoking. Taken from Luke 10:25. Two questions:
1- How do I inherit eternal life?
2- Who is my neighbor?

It begins with a firm foundation of Salvation.
Goes on to loving your neighbor more than yourself. More than what you need to do or feel you should do. Putting God first . Looking for opportunities to spread the gospel daily. Loving that person as  Jesus would.

The Good Samaritan went out of his way to help  one that most Jews would  not help. As the account tells us, the priest and Levite looked the other way ... as if he didn't exist. Because of the Good Samartitians care, it made a difference in that wounded mans life.

Do we look the other way? When opportunities come our way. Do we have logical reasons why we couldn't help or fill a need? Or do we do what we can, not counting the cost?

Seems today, I just keep  thinking on that message.  I want this year, to be a year of reaching out in Jesus name.

My Prayers for this year-
1. Lead me to a soul today
2. Give me a door of utterance
3. The courage to go forward and spread the gospel to those who come my way.
4. To be a Prayer Warrior

I want to make a difference for Jesus sake!

Happy Sunday

I love my Sundays.  I enjoy the preparation the day before, esp the evening before. Getting ready, doing my best to be ready to enjoy my day with the lord.  clothes ready-check Sunday school ready-check house cleaned-check jump in shower-check

God knew we needed to set a day aside. Focus on those blessings of the week. food on the table, roof over my head, wonderful husband, healing, the list goes on

I love seeing the children arriving for Sunday school, telling me all the news from the week before.  I am encouraged with the music in the services, the saints sharing how good God is, God's message given to us at the pulpit by the man of God.

Six days a week, we rush around as if there is no tomorrow.  I like to keep my meals simple.  I choose not to shop on Sundays unless a emergency.  After all I has 6 days to buy whatever I needed.  Sometimes we get so busy, just doing.

Maybe when we get so worn out,we should examine what we are doing or not doing. I am not one to get up early.  Lately I have been waking up between 6 and 6:30 am and can't go back to sleep.  I have found a joy in getting up grabbing a cup of coffee and bible .  I meet my lord in prayer on our deck. I am able to spend a hour or so, praying and reading the bible.  I feel like Jesus wakes me up because He is anxious to visit with me.  I have discovered a joy in my day when I start it out abiding with my Lord. Asking the Lord to take control of my day.  Knowing nothing will happen that is not in His plan.  Asking the Lord to send me too some soul that I can share the good news with.
Psa 118:24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

New Years Eve

Its been a wonderful year.  We have seen God answer prayers. We have seen healing. We have had the privilege to be present when saints have gone home. We enjoy our friends and lasting friendships that can pick up as if you never were apart  One of my favorite songs says....

Packing up the dreams God planted
In the fertile soil of you
Can't believe the hopes He's granted
Means a chapter in your life is through

But we'll keep you close as always
It won't even seem you've gone
'Cause our hearts in big and small ways
Will keep the love that keeps us strong

And friends are friends forever
If the Lord's the Lord of them
And a friend will not say never
'Cause the welcome will not end

Though it's hard to let you go
In the Father's hands we know
That a lifetime's not too long
To live as friends

With the faith and love God's given
Springing from the hope we know
We will pray the joy you'll live in
Is the strength that now you show

But we'll keep you close as always
It won't even seem you've gone
'Cause our hearts in big and small ways
Will keep the love that keeps us strong

And friends are friends forever
If the Lord's the Lord of them
And a friend will not say never
'Cause the welcome will not end

Though it's hard to let you go
In the Father's hands we know
That a lifetime's not too long
To live as friends
