Just a couple things, or two or three....
things I love about Oregon.
I love not having to pump my own gas. I took it for granted, growing up in Oregon. Just pull up to the gas station and say "fill her up" ( Why we say her and not him I will never know), The joy of staying in my car, unless you really wanted cheaper gas and went in to pay for it.
While we lived in states that you pumped your own gas,I wasn't exactly happy. I did not want to learn, I did not want to do it. Case closed. Maybe spending three weeks in Tulsa, Oklahoma when a friend of ours was fighting for his life. Maybe listening to horror stories from other families whose loved one was in the same battle. People we learned to love and pray for and grieve with them. Certainly none of this made me more willing to do it.
I did learn, between John and a sixteen year old girl ( you know who you are) I tried a couple times. Really, I was known to take someone out for lunch if they would fill my gas tank. John use to say there was enough gas to drive to Madison. I told him I had friends may be that would take pity on me.
The second thing I love is simple. No sales tax. I did get use to knowing that what ever the price tag was.... plan on paying more. We loved coming to Oregon twice a year and not worrying about sales tax. The first time I brought groceries in Arkansas, I thought I was going to get physically sick when she rang up the total. I had never spent that much for two people! Funny how after awhile you get use to stuff.
We sure enough did love all our friends and family of God we made . I loved hearing the stories and accents.
But I must confess did miss all my grandchildren. Which is why I must leave and wish my grandson Happy Birthday.
